Privacy Policy
Effective Date: Sun Mar 15 2026 Last Updated: Sun Mar 15 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to Dip: Cold Plunge Tracker ("Dip", "we", "our", or "the app"). This Privacy Policy explains how Dip handles your personal information when you use our iOS and Apple Watch applications.
We built Dip with privacy as a core principle: all data stays on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or share your personal or health information with anyone — not us, not third parties, not anyone.
2. Who We Are
Dip is an independently developed application for tracking cold plunge and cold water immersion sessions. If you have questions about this policy, you can contact us at:
Email: felix@getdip.app Website: getdip.app
3. Information We Access
Dip accesses the following types of data solely on your device to provide its core features:
HealthKit Data
With your explicit permission, Dip reads from and writes to Apple HealthKit. This may include:
Heart rate
Water Temperature
Workout sessions and duration
On-Device Sensors
Dip may access on-device sensors available through your iPhone and Apple Watch, including:
Accelerometer and gyroscope (for motion detection)
GPS / location data (optional, for logging session location tags)
Thermometer (for water temperature)
Haptic and display interfaces (for notifications and timers)
4. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used exclusively to provide app functionality, including:
Recording and displaying your cold plunge sessions
Showing health trends and personal statistics
Powering Apple Watch complications and widgets
Generating local notifications and session reminders
All processing happens entirely on your device. No data is ever sent to external servers.
5. Data Sharing
We do not share your data with anyone.
Specifically:
We do not have servers that receive your data
We do not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs
We do not sell, rent, or license your data
We do not use your data for advertising
We do not share data with Apple, except as handled directly by Apple's own HealthKit and iCloud frameworks under Apple's separate Privacy Policy
6. Data Storage and Encryption
All data collected by Dip is stored locally on your device using Apple's built-in secure storage frameworks.
On-device encryption: All app data is encrypted at rest using iOS and watchOS data protection
HealthKit data: Stored in Apple's encrypted HealthKit database on your device
Session data: Encrypted using the hardware-backed encryption provided by your iPhone and Apple Watch
Backups: If you use iCloud Backup, your encrypted app data may be included in your personal iCloud backup, which is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy
We do not operate any cloud infrastructure. There is no Dip server, database, or backend.
7. HealthKit-Specific Disclosures
Dip uses Apple HealthKit in compliance with Apple's guidelines. We confirm:
Dip does not use HealthKit data for advertising or marketing purposes
Dip does not sell HealthKit data to data brokers, insurance companies, or any third parties
HealthKit data is not used to derive information unrelated to cold plunge health tracking
You can revoke Dip's HealthKit access at any time via Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Dip on your iPhone
8. Children's Privacy
Dip is suitable for all ages, including children under 13. Because we do not collect, transmit, or store any data outside your device, Dip fully complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and equivalent regulations.
No personal information from any user, regardless of age, ever leaves the device.
9. Your Privacy Rights
Because Dip does not collect or store your data on any external system, many traditional "data rights" requests (access, deletion, portability) are handled entirely by you, directly on your device.
You can:
Delete your session data by deleting the app
Revoke HealthKit access via iOS Settings at any time
Export your HealthKit data via the Apple Health app
If you are located in the European Union, United Kingdom, or California, you retain all rights granted by GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA respectively. Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, or delete on your behalf — all data control rests with you.
10. Third-Party Services
Dip does not integrate any third-party SDKs for analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or data collection.
The only external framework used is Apple HealthKit, which is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document and note the changes in the App Store release notes.
Continued use of Dip after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
12. Contact Us
